I’m lucky to still write for a few print publications. But over the last two decades, most of my work — from articles to research reports, white papers and case studies — has been published online only.
In the last couple of weeks, however, I’ve gotten to work on — and celebrate the completion of — some really fun and very much non-digital projects. I’m currently in the middle of a project to write historical text for plaques inside a new institutional building, which has been a lot of fun to work on.
And this week, I picked up the final version of one of my favorite projects from the past year — a hardcover book published by the NC Rural Center, covering the incredible work of this nonprofit’s Connect Church program.
The book features churches that are making a real difference across their communities — from a reading and healthy eating program for local children to digital literacy lessons to keep rural older adults connected. I had the pleasure of writing some of the stories featured in the book, and I came away genuinely moved by the church leaders I met. I’m excited to watch as the Connect Church program grows.
Thank you so much to Andrew Hudgins, national Connect Church program manager, for the opportunity to work on this project, and to Bill Holmes, MPA, who I met at my very first writing job, for the connection.
This is the second book that I’ve helped a client with, and I’d love to work on more. If you are a nonprofit or business leader who needs help telling their story (or text for a plaque!), let’s chat!
And if I can’t do it, I’m sure one of my Your Writers Bench colleagues can help. Find us here: https://lnkd.in/eyJ97Kqu.
